Scanning and filters

The edges of my page look wrong

The document camera detects edges automatically as you shoot. Make sure the whole page is inside the frame and the lighting is even; a very low-contrast background (a white page on a white table) is the hardest case. You can always retake a page before saving.

Which filter should I use?

Color keeps the photo as shot. Grayscale removes color but keeps shading. Black & White gives the classic high-contrast "scanned document" look, best for plain text pages you want to read or print.

OCR

How accurate is the searchable text?

It is best effort, run entirely on your phone with Apple's on-device text recognition. It can miss or misread words, especially on handwriting, glare, or low-contrast paper. The page image is always the record of what you scanned — the text layer only makes that image's content searchable and copyable when recognition succeeds.

Why can't I turn on OCR?

The searchable text layer is a Premium feature. Free-tier documents save without it; upgrading turns it on by default for every new document, with a per-document toggle if you'd rather skip it.

The footer

What is "Scanned with PageTap" on my page?

A small, 8-point mark in the corner of each page on a free-tier document. It never covers your content. Premium documents save with no footer at all.

Subscriptions

What does Premium add?

No daily limit, no footer, full document history, and the searchable OCR text layer on by default. Premium Weekly is $4.99/week, Premium Monthly is $9.99/month with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, and Premium Yearly is $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops any future charge and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I subscribed on one phone and want it on another

Sign in to the same Apple Account on the other phone and tap Restore on the PageTap paywall.

Privacy

Do you keep my documents?

No. There is no server anywhere in PageTap. Your scanned pages, filters, OCR text and saved PDFs are all processed and stored on your phone only. See the privacy policy for exactly what is handled.

Where do my files live, and how do I delete them?

In the app's own storage on your phone. Delete a document from the Documents list, or delete the app to remove everything at once. We hold nothing tied to you that could be looked up.

Does PageTap work on Android or iPad?

iPhone only for now, iOS 17 or later.
